OfflineBased on the fact that it is a 1907 production rifle, the “A” indicates that it was one of the very early “A” marked receiver frames. Shortly after the Model 1906 was introduced, Winchester began marking the receiver frame (below the serial number) with an “A” for the Model 1890, and a “B” for the Model 1906. Ned Schwing discusses that in his superb reference book.
