Hi all, I’m new to the forum and appreciate any concrete answer I might be able to find here. I called Winchester twice due to conflicting yrs on a couple other sites & still got a different year 1974 & 1975 both times I called. Then another site suggest 1976 ugh. Cody people were unable to assist me as well, unless I paid a fee & joined the club. I just want to know the year for personal interest, I’m not selling. I have a 9422M ser# F234xxx.

The reason you are getting different answers is because the Model 9422M production was split between two different companies; Winchester, and the U.S. Repeating Arms Company (USRACo). Winchester manufactured the Model 9422 from 1972 through late 1980, and the USRACo manufacture it from 1981 through 2003. Each company maintained separate records. When you call “Winchester” today, you are actually speaking to the Browning Arms Company… who never manufactured the Model 9422, or has any of the production records for them.

Next issue… The Cody Firearms Museum does not (to the best of my knowledge) have any of the production records for the Model 9422 (from either company that made them).

Finally, you did not provide a complete serial number.

Thank you Bert for the reply. After speaking to Winchester a third time, Ive settled on 1976 as the DOM.
