I just read in a Cowboy State News FB post that the 30 foot Winchester that was part of the Cody Bicentennial Parade and later atop a building near the Irma will be back before July 4. Maybe we can hang a WACA Show banner from it.

I’m glad to see that “big gun” back. I remember about 20 years ago it was outside the door of a nice little gun shop. When I came back to Cody after a ten year absence, both the gun and the store were gone. It’s nice to see it back.

I happened to see it when I was out for a walk, I was wondering where it wound up. Cool thing about Cody is that I could walk almost anywhere I wanted to go. I could actually walk over the hill to the arena almost as quickly as I could drive. Saw the rifle when I strolled down to the Irma for dinner Saturday.

I noticed on Thursday morning it after having my usual “Eggs Benedict” breakfast at the Erma… curious if the extra barrel length helps stabilize the bullets better?

We’ll just have to shoot it and find out. We’ll need some old fire extinguishers to make cartridges and an old metal coffee can for a bullet mould. I’ll need another case of BP after the first range session. Gonna need a mattress for a recoil pad. Wonder if SPG comes in 5-pound blocks.
