…Evening All:

I am brand new to the web site. Was referred by an existing member. I have posed some questions to him about a unique Model 1895 take-down I acquired a few years back from a pawn shop in California.  The rifle is chambered in 30-06, What is unique, in my opinion are a

…am in looking for a barrel band for a target model 60a.    Since it is fairly rare I was wondering if there is anyone that could make one.

Is the same band as a model 57?

… I want to thank Clint for taking an afternoon to bring his rifle to my house. Knowing of my interest in Pre 64 model 70's, he told me about this rifle over 20 years ago, but did not take possession of it until recently. It is a very attractive rifle and workmanship

…range seem to me to be no more or less common than target rifles in other years.

It's true that Winchester (temporarily) dropped the target model (and bull gun) from their 1952 catalog.  When previously cataloged in 1951, the target model was available in .220 SWIFT, .257 ROBERTS, .270…

…on special order (possibly an effort to deplete existing parts inventory).  When officially re-instated to the catalog in 1955, the target model was only offered in .243 WIN and 30-06 SPFLD (even though a good number of target rifles chambered for .220 SWIFT were also made 1955-63).

…original Model 1886 40-82 would probably be my favorite, partially because it was the first purchased for my collection. Circa 1892. (click on photo to expand)

…have a M-70 target model with serial number 267xxx that was made in 1953. According to Rule's book no Target models were made except for "Special Order".  I'm just curious if there are any production numbers for special order guns during that period.
