This sold at the Redding auction on saturday.  Pretty nice condition. This must be the early type for the 1876 and 1886 guns? It isn't marked 1892. Winchester – Brass Mirror Bore Light – Good Marking | Firearms & Military Artifacts  Firearms  | Online Auctions

…ones as it's not marked with the "Model 1892" date.  One can presume that when they were introduced in 1887 they would fit the 1866, 1873, 1876, and 1886.  My guess is that it would not fit the Hotchkiss.  Not sure about the Single Shot but as you can look through the breech out the barrel the

…am trying to pin down what model rifle he's holding. My expertise is not advanced enough to pin in down, but my guess is that it's an 1873, 1876, or 1886. Any insight would be appreciated. Thanks!  

The Model 1873 was offered with a standard 24 inch barrel while the 1876 came with a 28 inch.  If

… For now I only own 1894’s, in 30 WCF and 32 Win Special, but I’m now hot after a 38-55. I lean towards the rifle length, but own both rifles and a carbine length. I’d still like an SRC at some point, but haven’t found one in the right condition. I kick myself for passing on an 1894 that was part of

I had both rifles and carbines where they made them and I even had nice Model 87's and 01's. I have never bought a gun on the internet and I have never bought a gun at an auction…

…by Tommy Rholes as an example of how I would find out about good guns. Think about what Tommy said in this letter "I have just acquired the best 73 carbine I have ever seen" - don't think that did not make the short hairs on the back of my neck stand up.
