Offered is an excellent example of a lightly used and well cared for Winchester Model 42 pump action shotgun. This gun was manufactured in 1961, bearing Serial # 146552. It has a full choke, with a bead front sight atop a ribless barrel. As with all Model 42’s, it is a .410 bore, essentially “mini version” of a Model 12.
There are a few small imperfections in the bluing on both sides of the receiver which appear to be previous rust specks, which are no longer active, and which are very superficial in nature.
Other than these small imperfections, the finish is very well preserved, showing very little usage of this beautiful little shotgun over the last 64 years.
Please note, the greenish hue shown in the photos is the reflection of my shirt by the gun’s brightly polished finish.
I hold an FFL and am handling this for the heir of an estate. Given the collectability of this little Winchester I thought it would be best to offer it to serious collectors of Winchesters via this forum first, before listing it on one of the Firearm auction sites.
My 2022 BlueBook of Gun values show this to be worth $1,275 if 90% condition and $1,100 if 80% condition. This gun is clearly better than 80% and closer to 90% in my opinion. I also suspect it’s value may actually have increased a bit over the last few years as well, given the upward trends in collectable firearm pricing.
The seller will accept $1,100.00 plus Shipping and insurance fees of $70.00, for a total of $1,170.00 for the sale of this beautiful little Winchester. Please contact me if you wish to purchase or if you have any questions.
