I have an 1875 Winchester reloading tool for 45-75. Like most, it no longer has the decapping pin. I’m planning to try to use it, so I would like a pin for it. Original or reproduction is fine. Thanks!

Having several loading tools myself i feel your pain. An easy fix is to buy one of Lee’s one piece decapping rods, cut it to length then wrap with tape to proper diameter to center pin in case.

I just saw this reply, and wanted to say thanks for the idea. I’ll give that a shot, but ultimately I’d like to find a proper pin. I had heard that for a while it was very easy to find modern made pins for these reloading tools, that people were trying to sell as original. I would be happy to settle for one of those, but it seems like even they are not available. I guess what I really need is the specs and a buddy with a lathe.

I recently sold an Ideal 25-20wcf tool to a guy. The decapping pin was missing so before I mailed off the tool I made him a pin like I described in my first reply. I have a complete Ideal tool set in the box including the original decapping pin. The buyer asked if I could give him the dimensions. He made one with a 3D printer. I thought that was pretty cool. Just another option. I too have a 45-75 hand tool minus the decapper. I agree it would be nice to have an original.

Here are photos of two original decapper pins in my collection.  They are marked just 45 or 45 W.  Note these could be used for either the .45-60 or .45-75 as the length is the same.  The pin with the lip (Barlow’s 1882 patent) was a later variant which allowed for case-forming as well as de-capping.  Best of luck with your search.

Also shown below is what I believe to be reproduction pin.  Note the strange caliber markings which are not like Winchester.

I call myself a collector as it sounds better than hoarder
