Looking to buy a 44-40 SRC shooter. I am looking to pair one with my 1901 colt SAA 44-40

I assume you’re looking for a model 1892 carbine?  You shouldn’t have a problem finding someone here who has or knows of one.  There probably in excess of 30 at the Denver show last week-end.  Conditions ranged from poor to near new.  Good luck.

You can get a good idea of what’s available by checking out Merz Antique Guns, Guns International and GrunBroker.

Actually I would like a late model 1873 SRC. I am assuming the later ones made in the earlier years of 1900 should use smokeless cowboy loads.

I’ve been looking for a decent .44-40 1892 carbine for some time now at the right price–and THAT seems to be rarer than hen’s teeth these days!

Depends on condition of course.  Most is absolute junk and overpriced.  The rest is not junk, and hard to come by.
