If this Model 12 shotgun was made in 1952 and is in all-original, like new condition, shouldn’t its grip cap be either the earlier hard rubber molded-in logo style or the later plain blue steel cap?
The grip cap on this shotgun appears to be the of the style furnished only on 1964 and later Winchester rifles and shotguns. Perhaps these grip caps were furnished on the “Y” series Model 12 shotguns but those were made after 1964 and none of them were made in 1952.
If I am wrong about this apparent anomaly, perhaps one of our Forum experts on the Model 12 will correct me.

I noticed that it has a replaced barrel as well–evident by the “circle P” stamp next to the “WP” stamp on the barrel.
