FYI,
On the Gunrunner auction site is a hard to find Winchester model 94 Leather Scabbard.
Lot #289, Currently @$410.00 !
These were a limited production for the model 94 commemorative John Wayne rifle in the early 1980’s, and aren’t seen very often.
I have no horse in this race.

Deg,
What Leather scabbard is the one that you’re showing? Looks like a nice worn period leather scabbard, to me. I always liked them.
There a little hard to find, and not everyone’s thing, but a nice touch. Like the Chevy gun rack, it’s an option that many didn’t purchase.

Steve,
I can understand that, as most, Winchester Collectors really never indulged, in them. My late friend and I would buy out collections, and on one occasion, a small gun store was going out of business and my friend knew him, and we visited him several years ago, and he took in a lot of Commemorative inventory, from someone or a supplier, as that part of the story will remain foggy, as it’s not important, but he had a room full of this stuff and my friend only wanted a few pieces, so I told him I would buy it all and he could cherry pick what he wanted, and we did. Made our pretty well, all in all, but that’s how I got a few of those years ago. I knew an older gentleman in Denver Colorado that worked for Frontier Airlines, in management, and maybe the president of that company, I don’t recall that either but he was in contact with Trollard, who wrote the book on commemorative rifles and such, and he had a bunch of stuff, he bought and sold, and he would have a list, when he would call, and we would deal back and forth, swapping, but mainly selling. I knew I had the outlet before going into the situation, as my buddy couldn’t believe it when I asked the guy, “How much for the Lot”.

Tony –
Interesting history with Commemoratives. And of course we know Henry has a great deal of experience with Commemoratives. This discussion brings up a memory for me from around the mid-70’s. I recall being quite smitten with the M1894 NRA Centennial Musket. I thought it was very cool. I was impressed Winchester thought to make one of the Commemoratives with a full stock. I recall picturing myself hunting deer with one. Never bought one but I never know exactly what I will do next
