OfflineHi all,
Thought there may be someone interested in this gun on here somewhere. It’s a 4 digit 38-55 octagonal 1984. The barrel/tube have been cut/destroyed, but the action looks ok if anyone is looking for a project. It’s a bigger project than I want to take on, but someone out there maybe able to save this old gun from the graveyard. Looks like you can pick it up for about 400USD.
Best and Happy New Year
It’s at Mountain Man Outdoors in Cranbrook, BC. https://www.mmoutdoors.ca/used-winchester-mod-94-38-55.html

OfflineHi Bert,
I called and chatted with “Mark” at the store. I didn’t delve into much more when he told me that the barrel/tube had been hacked off. I didn’t get the info, just his word..so needs to be verified. 250-426-2717

OfflineI understand that , but it is not a first year production, it was ser#r’d 1896. It is not a desireable piece for a collector and I don’t see a lot of “nice” parts, everything visible looks to be altered or damaged in some way . For $800.00 a person can pick up a respectable 1894 or at least one worth parting out.

I guess to bed it goes. Happy New year folks.
If it had been a 1st Model 1894, it might have been worth the effort and expense to have it exported back to the U.S. and then restored. The fact that it is a 2nd year production rifle and that it is a 2nd Model lessens the collector interest.

OfflineIt certainly qualifies as a decorative wall hanger but a bit more than I’d want to pay for one in this condition. Pass unless you’re hard up for a project that would make Don Quixote proud.
