Does anyone have any leads where I could find 100 pieces of unfired 40-82 W.C.F. brass with the correct caliber headstamp?  Have already checked Track of the Wolf,  Buffalo Arms, Midway and all the other usual suspects with no luck.

You might contact Captech International (formerly Jamison’s) and find out who else might distribute their brass. While talking to the. You could find out when they plan to do another run of 40-82.

Thanks for the suggestion, yooper, but that is Bertram brass and I’ve read all kinds of horror stories about their 40-82 brass.  Over 30% split cases, uneven case head dimensions, inconsistent primer pocket depths are a few that come to mind.

Worst case scenario is that you would have to form them from Starline 45-90 brass. I made a bunch of 40-82 brass that way with one plunge of the sizing die handle, but they were lubed with a 50-50 mix of castor oil and lanolin. Of course, they would not have the proper headstamp.

I have also made 40-82 from 45-90 , but tight neck on my replacement barrel with the .409 bullets I have to use for bore dia. required a fair bit of tedious neck turning
