I am looking for a peep sight for a 1895 Sporting  Rifle . I do not want to go with the sidemount type 21 lyman sight.. The rifle is engraved.

I have seen pics of 1895 rifles with a bolt mounted peep similar to a King Little Giant peep.. The bore is shiny and with the buckhorn sights on it shoots very well.. The bolt  peep should improve on that capability.

Many thanks ! TomKing little giantImage Enlarger

Does this rifle have non-factory engraving?

There is at least one business out there that manufactures bolt peeps – as reproductions for the bolt peeps on Model 65 and Model 71 rifles.  I’ve also seen offers to slot the bolts on those rifles that don’t have the factory milled slot.  I’ve seen this offer extend to Model 1895 rifles.  If you wanted to keep your rifle completely original, theoretically you could remove your original bolt (and put it in a safe place) and then find a replacement bolt and have that slotted.  It all depends on whether you want to keep your rifle original.
