I recently purchased a 1924 Winchester model 12 12 gauge shotgun. It has holes drilled on the receiver. Was it for a rear sight? Was a rear sight an option on this gun from the factory or was this done after market? What company made the sights? Are they still available? Thank you.
Without the benefit of seeing the holes and their exact location, it is not possible to say with any certainty what they are for. That stated, I can state with 99% as surety that they are an aftermarket alteration. I am not aware of any factory option (special order) for a rear sight on a Model 12.
