Hello Winchester Fans! Anybody have an Old Gunsights book and 5 minutes free?

I’m hoping you would be willing to answer a quick question for me; I’m currently in the market for a 3-Leaf express sight for my Model 94 and have come across one on good ol’ eBay. It looks good… Too good. I am concerned that it may be a reproduction for reasons a)the bluing is almost perfect and b)there are secondary notches on the “50” leaf that I have not been able to find on verified older sights.

I have scoured the Internet and endless collector forums, but I’m unable to find out much information about the production styles and years for this sight.

I am more concerned that it is an original Winchester piece and not a “modern” reproduction. I will attach the only photos I have. Unfortunately, not many markings are visible, but the “platinum lines” and extra leaf notches are.

–How long were these sights offered as special order upgrades?
–Does the notched 50 Leaf indicate it is a later year model, or a reproduction?

Regardless, thank you for sharing your incredible knowledge and passion!

Which “Express” sight are you referring to?  The 34 (all leafs on the same pivot) or 56 (3 separate leafs with 2 pivots)?

If you have a nice carbine, I have a very nice 44A for sale.    Big Larry
