I can’t seem to find comments on sight configurations when searching the forum. Ive seen it in some of the replies before on different post.
I know the 34c three leaf express with its lower height was preferred when a rear tang sight was preset but what was the suggested rear sight with a folding globe no 5 front sight.
And would a rear tang be ok with a folding globe or is this a mis match.

A beach or lyman 5 were commonly paired with a tang sight. The beach was the best front sight.

Well that’s good to know Bob. I have several rear tang sights on rifles matched with a folding globe.

If the tang sight was factory original.  But someone buying a standard rifle “off the shelf” might very well prefer a less expensive Lyman #6, which a local store would be more likely to keep in stock.  It seems to have been intended for that specific purpose–to fill the slot & use only as an emergency sight; though it’s hard for me to imagine what kind of problem or accident might disable a Lyman-type tang sight.  The aperture might in extreme situations get clogged by dirt or snow, but clearing it with a strong blow could be done instantly.

Bob, why do you like the Beach over the Lyman?  They look so much like each other.  I like the Beach when the globe is all gold.

The Beach has a finer posts plus it was designed with forethought that you could replace the post.
