I’d like to know as the title suggests what the pins are for in the bottom of Lyman’s tang sight stems

Fred,

The pin is shortened by filing or grinding it to the length required so you could lower the staff until it bottoms out and be sighted in at your point blank range or what ever range you wanted as starting range for the tang sight.
