Thanks to Big Larry, I added a Lyman 1A tang sight to my M1890.
This is the rifle previously discussed here about a fold down rear barrel sight.
Sight looks and fits outstanding by the way.
Anyway, when extending the sight up, making it longer, can it fly apart, spring pop out, whatever, if the sight is extended all the way out?
Is there a stop, will it just screw out and then screw back in?
I don’t want to make a mistake here by unscrewing something too far.
Thanks as always for all the help given here.

Yes, it will just screw out, then reverse rotation of the sleeve, & it screws back in. At the base of the stem you’ll see a tiny hole meant for insertion of a pin about 1/4″ long that came in the box with every sight. The shooter was supposed to insert it, then file it down so the stem couldn’t be lowered beyond “point-blank” range, say 50 yds. Most users threw them away.
There is not a spring that comes out when its extended too far but you can extend it to a point the upper staff comes out. Under normal shooting you should not have to raise it that far unless someone cut the staff short.
