Read recently that front sights on early Model 1892 rifles (i.e., up until 1916) were dovetailed and then brazed? Is that in fact true? If true, would that make removal of the front sight not as simple as using a punch?
Can you post where you read this?

Michael, I was perusing the net yesterday and typed in “Removal of Front Sights on a Winchester Model 1892”.
I went through numerous posts and I can’t remember which specific thread that information was referenced on.
I just tried to find it today but was unsuccessful! I will keep trying and send you the reference if I find it. Thanks.
