I have rifles with the rear sight elevation slides lower and some set higher. I realize distance is the consideration in slide elevation changes, but was there a certain caliber associated with the settings as well? Here’s a couple pics below of the difference of what I’m referring to.

With a later sights with a adjustable notch you would use that to set your point blank elevation or what ever range you wanted with the load your using.

Thanks Bob. Just thought maybe some sights were preset at Winchester for certain caliber rifles.
