One way to tell would depend on when your gun was made and when that king sight came out. Chances are it was put on later. Winchester put their own sights on and then the next most common sights were the Lymans. Kings were not as popular.

The seller of this rifle said it was made in 1896 (Madis data?),
but this Website’s data says 1901.
It was sold as an Antique rifle using the 1896 DOM.
You should treat it as a Modern firearm. A lot of sellers still erroneously use the Madis dates.

Sometime around 1903-04 King advertised his Triple Bead Front Sight independently and it was also in the early 1900s Marble catalogs. I do not know about the rear sight however. It looks like it was patented in 1907. The earliest ads I currently have for the rear sight are from 1913 when he was still in Denver, I’m in the process of going through some older periodicals and I’ll keep an eye out. Does this look like your rear sight?
