Anyone know or have a pre war 32WS carbine with a lettered smokeless rear sight?
I saw one on a carbine that looked better than the standard folding ladder 44c but wondered if the application was not suitable.

Thanks

It has been my observation that the Smokeless sight was used on the Sporting Rifles versus the Carbines. I do not believe that I have verified a 32 WS Carbine with the Smokeless sight.

I don’t believe I’ve ever seen one on a carbine.

Thanks Bert & Gary. I’ll put that thought to rest. Appreciate the replies.

I used to think they were ugly, but on some guns they look good, and add some character. Here’s one on a shortie I have that compliments the rifle, in my opinion.

And pass up (possibly) a rare special order carbine?  Maybe one of a kind…?

Hey Gary,

That’s one nice short rifle. I agree, the smokeless sight looks good on it.

I have a .32 Special rifle with an octagon barrel and a .32 smokeless rear sight in nearly 100% condition.  Classic and I like it a lot.  Not sure why this rifle and the .32 Special round would be inherently unpopular.

Although the 38-55 is the most in demand & the 32-40 the scarcest, 32 is my fav.

Just a note of interest, the 32 W.S. sight does not come in contact with the barrel and will not leave a mark on the upper side of the barrel.  If the top of the barrel shows a wear mark that would suggest that another sight was installed at some time.  Roger B.

My thoughts exactly, but your rifle here looks great with it.  I do like the caliber.

Thanks guys. That rifle is also a good example of a letterable 22″ with the longer wood. Another Cody Show acquisition from last year. Maybe its the short 2/3 magazine and the shape of the sight that add to the aesthetics.

Instead of starting a new thread I think I can throw this in on this one. Anybody know how rare or often carbines would’ve came special ordered with tang sights?
Did owners regularly install them on carbines? I don’t generally see a lot of carbines with them.

The number of Carbines with a factory installed tang sight is likely to be < 1 in 1,000 (.001%).

Thanks Bert. Not that an owner couldn’t add one, that would probably explain why I don’t generally see carbines with one.
