What is a 30/30 dovetail configuration/measurement? I see it listed on some of the Lyman sight offerings of old.

3/8″ for the front and rear dovetail cut barrel sights… standard on most Winchester rifles.  The barrel sights were most often Winchester mfg… type 22 (several variations) w/ elevators.  A Lyman front could be ordered too.  As far as tang sights, they could be Winchester, Lyman or Marbles. The period of manufacture (serial number) will help greatly narrow down the options. With that information, Bert will be able to tell you everything you could ever want to know about the possible sight options… Cheers!  Ben

Ok, thank you. I saw the reference for vintage Lyman front sights and it made me wonder whether there was something distinct from a 3/8″, noting that I have seen other references to indicate it applied to Winchester rifles.
