Picked up a fair condition Winchester model 97 serial # 870263 E series take down model. It has a 26 inch barrel with a modified choke. Also it has a matted frame. The serial numbers match. I can’t find any info on a matted frame besides the Tournament series. The barrel on this one is plain not matted and has field grade stock. Any info would be appreciated.

Which gauge is it… a 12-ga or 16-ga ? The S/N makes it an October, 1931 production gun. Can you post clear pictures of it (or send them to me) ?

The 26-inch barrel length is definitely uncommon for a 12-ga Model 1897 that is not a Brush Gun. I would like to see pictures of this gun.
