Winchester Model 12 unlocking bolt by pushing forend forward.

I have a Winchester Model 12 that doesn’t require the forend to move forward to unlock the bolt. Is this unusual? I actually like it a lot better

I’ve heard that occurs from wear, and is a way to check condition.  All mine require it.  Had one delivered to LGS, and they told me there was a problem with it (a pristine 20 gauge) and I showed him the push forward thing.  Cool engineering.  Never think about having to do it while shooting.
