Greetings to the Board,
So – back in around 1930 – if one were to special order a Model 12 with specific stock dimensions, does anyone know if “cast off” would have been an option?
My recently-acquired Model 12, which is set up along the lines of a Tournament Grade gun (raised solid rib, straight English-style grip, checkered fore and aft, but with a 32″ barrel) has a buttstock with a very distinct right cast off. I’m not sure how best to measure that, but it seems to be about 3/8″. This makes sense to me, since – with the cast off – my eye aligns right along the rib.
I just wonder if this buttstock could have been ordered that way, or if this was some sort of after-market adjustment?
As always, TIA,
Tom
