I came across a 1909 Riot takedown model locally. I’ve been looking for one for a while and have been doing research into what to look for when checking them out. I came across someone locally that has one for sale. The wood has typical nicks, etc, but no cracks and bluing is probably conservatively 50-60%. Barrel is in good condition and marked CYL. They want $525 for it. On the auction sites, Im seeing the values all over the place, even when trying to compare like models, so it seems really difficult to judge if this is a fair price. Any help would be appreciated!
Ended up buying it. Its a beauty. matching Serial 891xx, this site says its manufacture date is 1899. Bore is amazingly clean and takedown is nice and tight. Barrel shows “CYL” and a “12” at the top of the barrel nearest the receiver. Last date stamp on the barrel is June 14, 98. The takedown adjustment sleeve is still on the first few teeth. Looks to be the correct Winchester buttpad.
