I have came into possession of a Winchester 1897 trench gun. Serial numbers as follows 313 -992 on the lower on top of that number is a capital D when the gun separates right there at the break on the bottom of the barrel is a number also and that is 409-161 the gun is overall in fair condition the bluing is not on tact it’s actually somewhat Brown the stock is whole however it does have cracking through it I was wondering what the value is it has a manufactured date of 1906 can someone help?

Hello Greg,

What you have is a “Frankenchester”… a gun assembled from the scavenged parts from several other relic guns.

Serial number 313992 was manufactured in late January 1906.  The barrel assembly with serial number 409161 was manufactured in late March 1908.

Winchester did not manufacture any “Trench Guns” until WW I (October 1917).

In the condition you describe, it is worth approximately $300 if it properly cycles and shoots.
