Hello everyone, I am new the forum but I figured where else better to get some information about my 1887 in 10 gauge. I have little to no knowledge of the gun and was wondering if anyone here could provide some insight on the firearm and its estimated value in the condition it is in. Thank you I cannot figure out how to add photos on this forum but the serial number is 27366 and would be happy to provide photos once I figure out how.

Please refer to this topic – Posting Pictures – 2024 | Forum Rules and FAQs | Forum | Winchester CollectorWinchester Collector

Your Model 1887 was manufactured in November of the year 1890.  The Cody Firearms Museum (CFM) records office has the original factory ledger records for your Model 1887 and for a modest fee can provide you with a Factory letter containing all of the information originally recorded by Winchester.

Yes, let’s see some pics! The disassembly of these shotguns is also not too bad, I can link you a video or two if you’re interested in taking it apart to inspect/clean. In my opinion, these very clearly illustrate the mechanical genius of JMB.

The butt stock doesn’t look like the original one or it has been sanded a lot.

The stocks have been sanded and refinished, there is a large crack in the wrist, and the receiver frame has been buffed, polished and reblued.  Accordingly, the value in the collector market is minimal.  As a piece of Winchester history, it has an estimated value of $800 – $1,000.
