I purchased this yesterday for 375 out the door. The gun is in great mechanical shape.  I would like some professional opinions as to whether the gun has been reblued or the buttstock refinished.  I believe the buttpad is a replacement correct?

thank you in advance for any help.  I’m not looking to go back on the LGS.   I bought it for a truck gun but if the above is not the case then I don’t know I want to abuse it too badly.

Hello James,

The butt stock has certainly been refinished, and it appears that the receiver frame has been polished and reblued.  It would help to know what the serial number is, and to see a clear picture of the proof mark stamp on the top of the receiver, as well as pictures showing the roll stamped markings on the barrel.

The serial number is 5911XX.

James,

The serial number indicates that it was manufactured late in the year 1928.  It does not appear that the barrel was refinished, and the receiver frame may or may not have been refinished (I am 50-50 on it).  It should make an excellent truck gun.

Looks like it’s stamped “MOD.” What’s the barrel length?
