A member was gracious enough to sell me Riffles’s awesome book on the Model 12. (Thanks, Steve!) Awesome book, but considering the publication date I feel compelled to ask if there are any corrections or comments on his scholarly work. I realize much was quoted from old advertisements but much was also from hands-on observation.
In the interests of transparency I regularly trained and occasionally competed with Winchester 1300 Riot Guns, I shoot Trap occasionally with a Black Diamond Trap Gun and a Y-model 12 Trap. I regularly shoot a round of skeet with one of my “social equipment” riot guns. I’ll likely be shooting my Y-model tomorrow as my Citori 725 Trap and CX are in the shop. I don’t know how to describe it but the Winchester full choke has a way with clay targets when hit properly. Those guys really knew how to build a shotgun barrel. If I’m on the bird at the stake, it breaks into little pieces.
BTW, I’m looking for a Model 12 skeet in 12 or 20. May have missed a 20 but something wasn’t right.
