Hey guys…My son works in a construction land fill and the magnet on his crane picked up a 1897 shotgun..it was rusted solid but he knew i like to tinker and gave it to me…Well I tore it down and cleaned it up and have the action working like butter but the forgrip cracked in half..i have it epoxied at the moment but need a new one…are there any other years and models that will work. I know they may not have the slide holes but i can drill them..it just needs the metal slide to fit into it and have the right diameter for the tube…any help would be appreciated …I’d love to add some pictures but i’m new here and dont see how to do it….any help with pictures would be appreciated to…thanks

If this is an early gun with the 3 screws in the forend reproductions can be found.   Maybe not as easy as the newer no screw ones.

Never dealt with this company before but you may want to call them.

Hello Ralph,

https://homesteadparts.com/shop/winchester-1897-c-2_35.html

This link may be of help for the project beyond just the slide handle.  If you want to send the pics to my email, [email protected] I will be happy to post them for you.  Guest members are not allowed to post images.  If you join as a member you will find lots of fabulous help here.

You might also want to take a look on Ebay.  And it may take a while to find the slide handle.  https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_nkw=winchester+1897+shotgun+parts&_sacat=0&_pgn=1
