Hello, this is my first post on this forum. I just recently discovered this site and am really enjoying exploring it. I am a longtime hunter and shooter and have many old guns that I somehow acquired. My favorites are the Winchesters. I managed to get several old, unusable Winchesters from an old rancher in MT. Actually, one of them was a Henry, but also a 92 and 4 94’s. I wish they could talk, but they are all unusable.
I am positng to collect advice about a couple Winchesters I own. They are really cool old guns but with two kids in college I just have better use for cash right now than these firearms. I have a knack for acquiring old guns and these two are of no use to me.
The first in an honest to God, original, unaltered, lightly used Winchester Model 12 in 28 Gauge. It is absolutely beautiful. 26” solid rib barrel, Modified choke, very lightly used, wood and finish 95%+, best of all, no CUTTS! This gun is not a fake that I understand exist, it has a ‘28’ stamped into the receiver under the buttstock. Serial number is 1937 mfg. It’s beautiful.
The other is a Winchester Model 70 National Match rifle in 30-06. Serial number is 1950 mfg. Again, it appears lightly used and original. It has the original Lyman 48 rear sight, globe front sight, hand stop, leather sling, checkered steel buttstock and 3 scope blocks. The front globe sight is of an unknown mfg,, it has inserts, about 1” in diameter and about 4 inches long. No diopter. I’ve never seen one like it before.
I’d like to sell these firearms, I’m thinking 5 g’s for the Model 12 and 2 g’s for the Model 70. I’m thinking of putting them on gunbroker.com. does that sound like a good plan for selling these? Thanks for the advice!
I have had great success on Guns International and Gunbroker.
I would be interested in pictures of both, if you have available.
Regards,
Hello Alaskajim,
Could I please get some information on the Model 1892/92 rifle which you have? I am working on a research survey of these and want to add the gun into my database. You can send photos to the red email in this link.

Michael,
Why not just post your email address , or a link to the Research Survey forum here on WACA forums?

Would be interested in the model 12 in 28 gauge…………….. currently own 3 of them. Contact me if interested.

Gregory – I tried to send photos to you several times, they were returned as undeliverable. Is your email correct? I used [email protected]
Twobit – The 92 was in 32-40 but was traded last year to a ‘smith in MT who used the receiver for a project. I can recall the rifle but I don’t have it to look at anymore. The lever, sights and dust cover(?) were gone.
renegade – you’re not the only one interested in the 28 gauge! I’m starting to wonder if I should keep it but let me know what I can do for you. Send me your email and I can supply pictures. I have found out that it is positively a genuine, 1937 unaltered 28 gauge field model, like I already strongly suspected. I don’t have a use for it and I could use the funds derived from selling it, I need a new furnace.

Jim dont hang around here too long, I sold a few guns this fall cause I needed a new water well system , my water started working again, coincidently just before the Gun auction with some good items in. You can guess the rest
Will the water go dry again next summer ? Ya probably , but thats life
Phil
