My Model 12 has no serial number

I purchased a Model 12 16 gauge recently. It does not have ANY serial numbers on it. Barrel is marked Model 12, Nickel steel, MOD. There are the 2 alignment arrows on the bottom of barrel , but no s/n on bottom of barrel and receiver.

Has anyone heard of this before? I will try and post some photos. Any help or information would be appreciated.

has it been refinished???….could of been polished off…..your gun was made pre 1931 being nickel steel, it was legal to make firearms without serial numbers back then…don’t know if it was legal to polish them of during a refinish or not…..pictures would help…..
