I have two seemingly identical Winchester model 50s, both date to 1961. One has serial number ending in an “A”. Both are Improved Cylinder. I know the non-a one shoots great at informal clays, havent tried the a one yet. Thinking of thinning the herd. What would the difference be with the “a” one? I cant find what the specific design difference is. Both are excellent condition.
I believe it was 1958 when they started making a featherweight version of the model 50. And I am about 95% sure the letter ‘A’ after the serial number is how they denoted that. I can not find the source where I read it,but I am pretty sure they marked the feather weights with an a or an f after the serial number. I will add the source if/when I find it
