I just picked up a fine Model 37 shotgun, 30″ barrel with a bright bore and tight action.
Before I use this shotgun, would new shotgun shells work alright with it? It’s a later model
with the vertical Winchester logo on the butt. Just checking before I get in over my head.
I would love to use this on a turkey hunt.
Thanks
Good Morning Don,
There was a post about this years ago, I responded to it, but now it seems that it must have been deleted, as I can’t find it.
I still hunt with a Winchester Model 37, 16 gauge today, and it is older than yours.
I use Winchester Ammo, high brass and never had a problem.
The older post I was referring to, the gentleman was having problems with shells, that the firing pin wouldn’t hit the primer sometimes.
But he was using cheap foreign made ammo, and it seemed that the rim of the shell was produced to thin, and would seat to deep in the groove of the chamber.
I suggested he should use quality ammo, and that cured his problem.
So in ending, take the old Winchester Model 37 out to the field with some Quality Winchester Ammo and enjoy Hunting with it.
