Looking for help to date a model 25, 12 ga. 2 3/4″ chamber, full choke serial #65738
Your serial number is approximately 2/3rds of the way through the total production which would logically place it about 1952 +/- 12 months.
There is no available data for the Model 25 serial numbers from Cody however Pauline Muerrle has some of the polishing room records for the Model 25 and if she has the portion with your serial number it is $15 for the exact date. http://paulinemuerrle.com/factory-engraving-records/

I am going to poke a jab in my friend Jeff’s ribs on this…
The Model 25 production total is listed as just 87,937 guns.
65738 ÷ 87937 = .7475, or expressed as a percentage, 74.75% (or ¾).
If I were to guess, I would estimate the DOM was somewhere between mid-year 1952 to early 1953.

Yep, you are correct. It is always embarrassing to have an Engineer corrected on his math, but I did come up with the right 1952 answer anyway.

Jeff,
As an Engineer myself, I just could not help myself. That stated, I know that you are a good sport, and that you appreciate the details.
