I have a Model 12, 12 gauge, 2 3/4 chamber, Full (stamped) Barrel measures 19 1/2″ Bead is missing. Serial # is 45592. Serial number search on this site says it was made in 1913. Is it safe to shoot with modern ammo? Has had a recoil pad added at some time in history so is not 100% original. Value?

Jon,

December 1913 to be a bit more precise.

In addition to the added recoil pad, the barrel has been cut down from its original 30-inch length. Originally it was a Field grade gun, not a Riot Gun. Value today… maybe $200.

Wow ! That didn’t take long ! Thanks for the quick reply and info Bert H. Thought since the hole for the bead was there, the barrel might have been changed.

The clue is the “FULL” marking on the barrel.  The Riot Guns were all “CYL” bored & marked.

I hope this is not too late:  Are you sure it is 2.75″ chamber?  Factory 12 ga chambers were 2.5′ until 1927.  Since it has obviously had work done to it, it may have had the chamber extended as well.  I’d get it checked to make sure.

You are apparently confused (incorrect).  All Model 12 gauge guns were manufactured with a 2-¾” chamber length from the beginning of production.  Only the pre-1927 20 gauge guns were made with a 2-½” chamber length.
