Hey everyone, I recently picked up a model 12 heavy duck and was curious what anyone can tell me about it. I believe it was assembled with a bunch of miss matched parts. From what I’ve been able to uncover, the serial number dates to 1947, but the barrel has the older style markings and is dated “42”. The reciever and barrel extension both have the same numbers. I also think it’s been re-blued at some point based on how faint the serial numbers are. It has some sort of aftermarket stocks, and no lead slug in the buttstock. Everything is nice and tight and it functions as intended. Has anyone ever seen an original with such a gap from when the barrel was made vs the serial number. If I can figure out how to post pictures I’ll add them later.

Sounds to me like the barrel was replaced at some time in the distant past. A lot of heavy duck guns found their way to the trap fields. Trap shooters will modify their guns at the drop of a hat.
You can breakdown the gun and have a look at the ring in the chamber, it should NOT be blued. If the chamber ring is blued the gun was reblued.
