Not sure if this has been asked before,but I could find no answer,so I will ask.Does any one know the number of Model 12 HDG’s manufactured?
Was reading some where that in 1953 Winchester changed the slide on the Model 12 to a two piece one.This did not prove out and was changed back, quite fast.Is this true, or just some one making a good story?

dont know on the HD gun numbers…..but true on the action bar…..kind of a dog leg shaped action bar….bad idea

I got a 53 model 12 never noticed the dog legged bar but never had a problem what the issue

Yes from what I understand ,the change was done and then rather quickly changed back.Are your guns the Heavy Duck Gun or the Standard 2 3/4 inch guns?

No I do not know just what the problem was.As far as I know the problem was with both the regular and HDG.

Just wondering if any one knows if the magazine tubes were the same for the 12 gauge 2 3/4 inch Model 12 and the 12 gauge Heavy Duck Gun?
