Bought this beautiful model 12 the other day. SN-1651641

Could the recoil pad be factory work?

Can Cody verify?

Thanks!

George

Hello George,

The odds are against it being a factory installed recoil pad.  Unfortunately, the CFM records office does not have any records for the Model 12 except the serialization (Polishing Room) records.  Those records tell us that your Model 12 was manufactured in April 1955.

Thanks Bert!

I kind of suspected.  Would that pad be period correct for this shotgun?

I think I’ll keep it either way, it’s in absolutely beautiful condition.

I do not now when Pachmayr introduced the “White Line” recoil pads, but I believe that it was before your Model 12 was manufactured.

George, my Model 12 ser# 1600369(1954) was made the year before yours. It’s the deluxe grade ventilated rib variation pg 321 in Bert’s red book & has a factory red butt pad in the photo below. I think your gun is the Model 12 standard plain barrel variation pg 319 & originally came with the thinner black plastic style. Not sure if this helps but if you want it as original, Bert could certainly confirm the configuration and correct butt plate.

Is the ‘White Line’ factory on this pad?

Tedk I was told the deluxe of the day(1954) could be ordered that way and some have it, some don’t. The model 12 experts here could probably advise or confirm. Also has it on the pistol grip cap.
