I have a Winchester over/under in 12ga, runs 3″ shells and has a 27″ barrel. It is marked with ‘model 101 XTR Lightweight’ and has the s/# K497170E. There’s an engraving on a silver background with, among other designs, what looks like a couple of quail. Is this what’s known as a 101 ‘pigeon’?
I would to know when it was manufactured and what it’s worth in good condition. I have a couple of pictures if that would help.
Thanks in advance.
Winchester did make a Pigeon Grade 101 limited production shotgun that was called a “Quail Special”. I owned one of these in 410, and they were beautiful guns. As I recall, they made 500 each in various gauges. Mine had a silver engraved receiver with a quail scene on side panel. I am relatively certain all s/n’s began with a “Q”. Perhaps this is what you have? Do a google search for Quail Special shotgun. There are lots of pictures for you to compare.
