I picked up a first year (1954) production Model 50 about a week ago now so I thought I’d share it here.
Appears to be original bluing, with wear on edges where it was handled, few places here and there, but overall still very good condition, can’t really see the wear in the photos.
Furniture has been redone, one mark in the middle on left side of the forearm where it rubbed against or was bumped against something. Stock is in excellent condition, not cut, with heel and toe intact, and also has original butt plate. 12 gauge Bore is Modified choke, and no pitting, nice and shiny.
Four digits serial number makes it the 1076 made, and serial numbers began at 1000. No explanation but Winchester started serial numbers at 1000.
She has been taken care of over the years. Got her for a good deal to boot. First Auto-loader I have ever had. But with low serial number and condition, as well as price I couldn’t pass her up. She feels solid and look forward to putting a few shells through her down the road!

Nice shotgun. I love the balance of the 50. The barrel seems to swing well and stopping the follow-thru doesn’t wear my back and shoulders out. I’m short and smaller arms. The model 1300 with the short barrel and a shortened pull is my shotgun right now. Defense not field.

Nice! I’m looking for an old Winchester to take to the club now and then. All my clay guns are Citoris but a classy Winchester would be fun now and then. I share Vince’s admiration of the 1300, like his mine are all working guns.
