I own a model 37a, 20 gauge with a 2 3/4″/ 3″ chamber. I was firing it the other day with Winchester ammunition when my gun malfunctioned. It fired but the shell ejector(I think that’s what it’s called) wouldn’t eject the shell at all. It was stuck in place so I basically had to pull the shell out.
What I am trying to figure out is why? I don’t know if the ammo is just bad or the wrong kind or if my gun needs to get repaired. The weird thing about all this is that the ammo in use is Winchester 20 gauge ammo, 2 3/4″ and everything. To be specific the ammo is Winchester Super Speed 7 1/2 shot. Am I using the wrong kind of ammo and if so, what should I be using instead?
Or again, is it time I get this thing repaired?
Allan,
I would try thoroughly cleaning the chamber. If the next shell you fire after cleaning it sticks in the chamber, it needs to be repaired. The shot shells you mention should have fired and ejected flawlessly in your Model 37A single shot.
