Winchester 1879 SXS|Winchester Shotguns|Forum|Winchester Collector

Recently picked up a nice condition Class C gun as it was the first I’d ever seen and until contacting Bert the first I’d ever heard of. Was wondering if anyone has seen one of these Class C guns with smooth wood or on this one has the checkering most likely been removed? there is no sign of checkering but it does seem pretty evident that wood has been refinished at some point, with a couple of minor repairs. The rest of the gun appears all original.
