I am a new member and find myself confused already. I entered 30some serial numbers for Model 1912/12 shotguns and obtained the year of manufacture. The great majority (about 75%) of the years shown do not agree with the years of manufacture as provided by George Madis,Ned Schwing and Dave Riffle in published books.
I know there are minor differences shown by the above authors but the WACA site shows very different years of manufacture. Is there a more reliable schedule of manufacture for the Model 1912 I should be looking at?

Hello,

The data used for the serial number/DOM correlations that are found on this forum are based on the serialization application dates kept by Winchester at the time of manufacture. It is fairly well recognized that a large part of the information published by Madis is not correct with regard to DOM.

Could you please edit/delete the other two identical posts in this forum?

Michael
