Gentlemen,

New to the board with my first question. I have an opportunity to purchase a 97, 12 ga. Marked CYL. on it’s 25″ barrel.

I’m wondering, is this most likely a 26″ barrel that’s been cut? Could it be a special order gun? I don’t know the serial number as of yet. Waiting on a answer from the seller. Seller advises the gun was manufactured in 1908. Any thoughts shared will be much appreciated. Steve in Ohio.

Steve,

Are you sure that the barrel length was measured correctly? I can’t imagine why someone would shorten a CYL bore barrel by just one inch. Where (precisely) in the front bead sight located on the barrel (distance to the muzzle face)?
