Hello,
I just recently inherited a few shotguns from my father in law. One from my research is a takedown brush gun, 295058, I had seen someone mention elsewhere if it were a full choke it could be less common of a shotgun. It isn’t in great shape but not horrible. He hadn’t hunted or shot at all for a long time, no telling how long it’s been since it’s been shot. Looking at cleaning it up a bit a do a little shooting with it.
Trying to get a bit more information about it.
Thanks

Your Model 1897 was manufactured in late August 1905 per the factory records. The Model 1897 Brush Gun was standard with a 26-inch CYL bore barrel, a 4-round magazine, and a hard rubber butt plate. Does that match your gun? Can you provide clear pictures of the gun to include the factory markings on the slide bar and the barrel?

Thanks Bert,
Not quite, my barrel is marked FULL, it has a checkered metal butt plate. No markings on the slide bar. It is a takedown model.
How long is the barrel? Standard length was 30″ for a Field grade gun, and with a steel butt plate. The slide bar should be marked as shown in the attached picture.
Pictures?

I really need to see several pictures of the gun to determine what has transpired with it, but I suspect that it has a much later production barrel assembly that has been cut down to its current length. Do the serial numbers on both halves of the gun match? What is the exact distance from the center of the front sight bead to the muzzle face?
