I have a 1897 12ga shotgun. I found it in my Grandpas shed when I was a teenager. I have not done anything with it as it is in rough shape. The serial # is 313543. the stock is missing, blueing is gone and a little rust here and there. I decided that if it was worth restoring I would do it and give to my son. My question is this. Is it worth restoring. I have no idea where to find a stock for it. also would the blueing need to be redone on it.

Without seeing several pictures of what you have, it is not possible to answer your question. The serial number tells me that it is a “D” series Model 1897, and it was manufactured in January of 1906.
