How can I determine what kind of steel the 30″ barrel on my 12 Gauge Model 1887 was made from?

From the WACA Resource info about this shotgun it says it could be one of 3 different types of barrel steel.

According to the resource info, the standard barrel was a 30” or 32” rolled (fluid) steel, with an optional three-blade “Good” Damascus steel, or four-blade “Fine” Damascus steel.

In the letter for this shotgun, it says “Barrel: Plain”.

The barrel looks like it has like a Curly Que type of pattern all over the barrel.

By the way, the letter also says “Border on frame” and “Checkered butt plate”.

The un-checkered wood looks like deluxe wood, but it’s not mentioned in the letter.

Jim,

Please send me pictures of your Model 1887. I suspect that it has the lower grade of damascus steel.
